Opinions? What do you think of using medicated chick start, or the non medicated. Thanks for responding

i have hatched out 48 chicks in 3 separate hatches and i have never used medicated chick starter. i let them free range with the adult hens around 4-6 weeks of age and have no issues.

ETA I just prefer not to medicate and I also use organic grow crumbles.

Or local feed store said due to the weather they would recommed a medicated starter because they could become ill.

When I first got chicks, my feed store didn't have medicated chick starter. Soooo, I've never used it. Several batches of chicks later, still never used it and all is well.

I guess it's all who you talk to. I have read here that people don't use mediacted, and some that say they do....the woman at the Agway where I picked up my chicks from today, said to use medicated for the first 6 to 8 weeks....I'm gonna keep my ears open and do some more research and may switch at some point. But for now, I'm using medicated...just cause that's what she suggested

Thanks all who responded, I wanted to aim for as organic as possible. I had two barred rock hens a few years ago, and feel it's time to get a new little batch.
