medicated chick feed or not?

I have 12 chicks I bought at TSC end of April. 6 bantams and 6 were just labeled pullets. I bought the Chick Starter crumbles that is medicated to start them out. Went back and bought a 2nd 5# bag that they went through in a week. Yesterday I went to the local mill and bought a 50# bag of their chick feed. It was only $10. Much cheaper. I asked if it was medicated and he said they no longer put medication in their feed. Should they have the medicated feed or is what I bought ok? It's 18% protein. They love it.

i don't use med as i want my chix all natural.
just keep coop clean when they are young.

Medicated helps prevent cocci.

Non-medicated does not. I personaly feed medicated. I had an experience

with cocci, and it is NOT fun.
