I started mine on nonmedicated Turkey - Gamebird starter. I think it had 26% protein. Are they going to be day olds? If so I suggest starting them with a chick to help show them the food and water. Turkeys aren't the sharpest tool in the shed but they are definitely lovable. Good luck with your new poults!!

The do not make a medicated food where I live. I don't think we need it where I live. I have never had a problem. Most people do not have a choice when it comes to turkey game bird starter (28%-30% protein). They either can only get medicated, or non medicated. Do you have both available?

Yes I have both medicated and none

Also I dont know if I should have them vaccinated for Mareks Desease.

Should I?

Well, mine are getting non medicated, because they only medicated formula they sell at my feed store is 18% pullet or 20% broiler/fryer. Too low protein for turks. They are still in the brooder indoors, so I guess they probably won't get cocci.

I use king feed I really like this feed

They recomend non medicated turkey started 28% protein for 6 weeks and after that switch to turkey grower 24% protein

I chose non medicated because we are going to be using them for meat as well as breeding. Mine are now 9 weeks old and are all very healthy.
