So I went to an auction this Saturday and came back with a few more feathered friends than I expected WHOOPS! All I had wanted were a few cuckoo maran chicks that had been shipped up from Texas, but nooo, dad came back with

8 count em EIGHT cuckoo maran chicks

5 cuckoo maran x ameraucana chicks

2 white silkies, one roo and a hen (sadly they were in pretty rough shape, spike the roo didn't make it through the night :( )

4 very well used isa brown hens, obviously from some sort of hatchery, I'm gonna see if I can get them looking back to their pretty little selves again

2 Australorp cuties, a roo and his gal, both so sweet natured and I'm starting to think my new favourite pure bred chickens of the lot.

Hopefully if I can mix them all right, intermingle with everyone, I could get some lovely, fat, dark egg laying hens!
I'll post some pictures along with all their names later!
(Also, may sound dumb, but I forgot how to use the emojis, how do you do it on this site???)

Quote: Wow, he came home with a mess of 'em!! And yes, Black Australorps are a wonderful breed, you will love yours for sure! I have 4 BA little ladies and couldn't be happier with them. They are very docile, easy to pick up and love on, one of mine even brushes up against my leg and wants to be petted! They are great layers and very good in cold weather, too. Best of luck with ALL your new finds!
