membranes are white.

what do white membranes mean? We have lost another duckling and noticed that the membranes were white. Is that normal? I thought that they were supposed to be translucent? Do I have a humidity problem. The duckling didn't look totally shrink wrapped but the membrane was like laying on the duckling and kinda wrinkly. Is that what shrink wrapped means? Cause I pictured something that went through a food saver.
