I've decided to turn this thread over, into a story of the lives of my new chicks.
Introduction -
I'm sure everyone has heard about the flooding in TN and KY. Well, butler county has had it real bad - parkway exits and lots of roads are closed and under water. I was so afraid that my babies wouldn't make it here from texas, having to go through Nashville, then to bowling green, then make it to us!
Guess what? They made it!
They arrived safe and sound this morning. And boy, they are CUTE. I mean just irresistible to look at and want to cuddle with! I was afraid Skye, the Spitzhauben, wasn't doing so hot. Turns out she was just a bit stressed from the journey up here, shes doing great now. Everybody is drinking, eating, and pecking each others toes and eyeballs - getting up in the food dish and scratching the food out - and of course, attempting to splash water everywhere.
I couldn't be happier!
Here are the chicks -
The barnevelder. I think I'm going to name her Fang.
Avery, the Russian Orloff.
Mika, the Silver-Gray Dorking.
Kira, the Dark Brahma -
Koji, the Buff Brahma. She is special; her name means "The second shining (child)". Our first buff Brahmas name, Ming, meant "The shining" - we lost her in a attack.
Skye, the Silver Spangled Spitzhauben -
Nina, the "Barred Holland". Her colorings don't look exactly right to me, but time will tell.
Riley, the Red Chantecler -
Hope, the Blue-Red Cubalaya.
And lastly, Lily, the Delaware -
I will be updating our YouTube page with footage of the flooding soon - and later, the chicks.
