Mercury has a tail!

So this is Mercury,and at 7 months old she is finally growing a tail and some awesome foot feathers! Mercury has had a troubled start. Her mom did a great job until week 5,then stopped being mom to her and her brother. Then brother who had a vaulted skull of the silkie got killed by one of my big barred rock hens. Then Mercury got wounded and had a broken leg! Now she is living the high life,in the garage,no competition for food,outside time protected by people so none of the big hens can pick on her. Spoiled rotten! Just thought I'd share how she's feathering out! Odd but cute and so soft with tons of spunk.

She’s is absolutely gorgeous! I don’t know how you fixed her leg but you didn’t an amazing job! I can’t tell it was every broken. Hope she continues to thrive!

Thanks!I could not splint it,the break was just above the knee.Just gave her quiet and safety,very lucky she was careful and calm, So I can't take any credit.

She is different than any chicken I have ever had. Both parents are half silkie. Thanks.

Thanks! She has been a trooper through it all. Now she's spoiled and I have no problem keeping her that way.

It seems to me that sometimes when an animal has to overcome difficulty, that they are stronger for it. Don't know why, it just sort of seems that way. Good luck with little Mercury. I'm sure she will be fine...
