I've vaccinated 4 batches of chicks (so kinda limited experience) but I've done everything from tiny Ameraucana bantams to some chonky layer chicks, all .2mL and no issues I can detect. My mentor raises bantams and large fowl and does all the same and she's been doing it for several years. It seems like so much for those bantams, butReally??? Ok!! I have read a lot of mixed things! Good to know!
Hello, I’m new here. I was searching for this information because I don’t know anyone who has vaccinated their Bantams, particularly Serama's. I have to give them the vaccine by tomorrow morning. I just noticed they barely have any fat on the back of their neck to pinch to make a pocket for the injection. Do you have any advice on how you give the vaccine to yours? Is there a trick to do it? This is a new to me.I've vaccinated 4 batches of chicks (so kinda limited experience) but I've done everything from tiny Ameraucana bantams to some chonky layer chicks, all .2mL and no issues I can detect. You just have to grab the skin, pinch it between your fingers, and give it a pull. You just want the skin, nothing else. Once you tent up the skin, push the needle just under the skin, you don't want to have the needle his muscle, bone, or any blood vessels.Hello, I’m new here. It would be good to practice pulling that skin up before you need to stick a needle in.
