Hey there first time posting I probably didn’t dig deep enough in the threads but I got tired of looking for a similar situation.
I have 4 hens that are about a year and a half old. A friend of mine is moving and we took three of his chickens they are around 6-8 months old. They were merged with his flock without issues. Since I’ve merged them with mine I’ve been getting about 1 egg a week. We’ve had them together for about a month now. Molting is taking place but not all at the same time. Any ideas or suggestions as to what I can do to get their production back?

:welcome Change to a new home, molting, and shortened day light period have caused them to take a break in their laying cycle. They may very well not restart until the photoperiod increases.

i am a year and s half into raising chickens. A few things I have learned about egg production. If i am not correct i am sure others will let us know.
Chickens normally slow down in winter. I have 12 chickens and I am getting 5-7 a day. I am in PA and its cold. Stress, lack of calcium and poor nutrition can play a part in eggs slowing down. Molting can cause it too. My son has 10 hens and none have laid since summer. Dont know whats going on there. There are lots of posts on here. I am sure others will chime in

I agree with Sourland, and she might be right, you might not get many eggs from now till end of January - first part of February. Winter laying definitely slows, molting slows, and a new place will stop laying for a bit, combine them, I would not expect much till spring.
