Merging ducks and chicks

I have some 5 week old ducks and chicks who spent the first 2 weeks in the same container because I got them at the same time. When they got to big, I separated them. We will be housing them together in a coop and run when we get it finished. My question is, do I need to put the ducks in a "playpen" so nobody gets hurt? If so, for how long?

I'm about to do the same thing so k want to fallow this, but on a side note. What did you feed them both when they were together?

Chick starter. I got them when they were 3 days old.

I would keep them in the same pen if you would like. They should be fine growing up together. However, keep an eye on them, if you notice problems separate them. Are you supplementing niacin with the chicken starter?

Yes, I'm adding brewers yeast and oats to the duck feed. I was wondering I'd they need to be introduced to each other as you do new chickens.

what kind of oats do you use?

Old fashioned oats from my kitchen.

Toss them in and see how they do

Really the only way to know is to try it.
