I have 23 houng chickens including 3 roos, and 2 henhouses, each a mirror image of the other. As I have mentiones earlier, all the chickens insist on roosting in the same one, and it gets very crowded. One rooster is a bit older than the rest of the flock. I took him from my neighbor. We call him Puff Daddy. Another rooster has just begun trying to mount some of the other pullets. His name is Rusty, and he is an EE. Puff Daddy dominates over Rusty.

Tonight, I decided to try an experiment. I forced Rusty and a few of the pullets to roost in the less favored house. I eventually want to divide the flock and let Rusty have all the EE hens. So I'm going to see if I can get him to favor that house. If it works for him I will keep trying to trap more of the EEs in with him until thay all favor that house. I might even move them and their house to the back of the property. If it works, hopefully all the fertile EE eggs will be pure EE (if there is such a thing).

Q: Does this have any chance of working according to plan?

Take the birds you want in that house from their roosts at night. Lock them up for a week or so, no free ranging. They should go back to the house you moved them to. If not, move them again, and lock them up again, until they take the hint.
