Metal Wing Tags/clips

I have two chicks (jersey Giants- 5 weeks old) that have wing tags. The breeder advised me to leave them on and we wouldn't notice them after a few weeks but both birds now refuse to spread the tagged wing and it looks like it's actually growing into their wing. Neither will let me mess with their wings but other then that it doesn't seem infected.
I'm kicking myself for not removing them earlier but I i have read good things about tags and the breeder advised leaving them on and their reasoning made sense. I just don't know if I should just monitor these birds and hope for the best or if this is normal??

They shouldn't be having problems with opening/using the wings. They do look like they are growing into the wing with the way the skin is sometimes, but shouldn't interfere with the use really. I wonder if the tags got pinched tight in the middle accidentally somehow, getting put on or something. They are pretty easy to take off with nippers, if they look to be a problem would probably take them off. If you can post pictures, you could do that to see what people think.

I haven't been able to get an amazingly clear picture- my husband is scared of them and won't hold them for me to try and look at it better.
