Hi duck family! All is going well with my babies (see pics of their latest awesomeness).

Curious your thoughts on something... Why doesn't Metzer carry call ducks? All 5 of my Heathers have all come from Metzer because the drake/hen thing I won't mess with not knowing.

Calls are the cutest little munchkins. What am I not knowing about this duck?

Purely Poultry in Wisconsin sells them.
Call ducks are extremely hard to hatch maybe that's why they don't sell them.

A few possibilities that might be behind it
Hatcheries don't normally sell sexed bantam breeds of chickens or ducks.
Calls are delicate little cutie patooties as ducklings. I'd worry about them during shipping. Young adults would probably do better in shipping. Plus, like BBT mentions, Calls are difficult to hatch. Hatcheries like to make money and with Calls oftentimes needing assistance, they can't make money as easily with them.
This is just a guess, so......

I agree! Calls are the cutest little things 💜 I hope you can add some to your gorgeous flock very soon! They're really enjoyable

Wow, I had no idea. I wonder if that makes them even harder to sex as hatchlings? I'm very very careful about drakes (as in, nope) cuz my ducks are my pets. Not meat/egg production. I give most of my eggs to a local small biz bakery. I just legit love my ducks and thankfully they love me right back.

No one sells sexed call ducklings.
You can buy adult ducks that are sexed, they will be very expensive, FYI. ;)
