Metzer Farms leg bands - how do you take them off?

This is my first time ordering from Metzer, and all of my babies were sexed, so we've got 8 ducklings and 2 goslings with little leg bands on. I don't know how to get them off. Help?

Use a pair of scissors that are narrow at the tip. Slide it under the band and snip it off.

Unless they've changed, Metzer uses the spiral leg bands which are metal. Just use pliers and unbend the ends of it and you should be able to get them of fairly easily.

You can also use wire snips if you have them, or dog nail clippers (these are great because they have blunt ends and a curved inward edge to hold the band in place). It takes a little practice, and at first it may be helpful to have someone else hold the duckling still while you work. Good luck!

The first thing we did when mine arrived was snip the leg bands off. We just got some pliers, and snipped them off. Took about a minute to do 2 leg bands. Very easy!

those plastic spiral kind can also be taken off by pushing the ends around together until it opens up completely.
