Hi, everyone:
I have Marek's in my flock, and have also just learned I have mycoplasma. About a week ago I vaccinated all my chickens with the MG vaccine, including a six month old Buff Brahma who had been sneezing. (I spoke to the state vet to be sure this was okay).
My Brahma has been open mouth yawning and breathing for the last few days. I did a 3 day preventative treatment of Denagard in the flock's water for everyone (since they have all been exposed to mycoplasma) and she seemed to be doing better, but yesterday I noticed her poop was runny/foamy, and bright yellow.
I brought her into the house, put her in an ICU setup, gave her an egg, food, Nutri-drench, Vet RX, and anything else I could think of, including more Denagard. I have also ordered Tylan 50, but it's not here yet. She seemed about the same today and wanted out of the ICU bin, so I put her back in with the flock tonight. She doesn't really "act" sick (no ruffled feathers, hunched stance, etc), and there is no obvious swelling of face or runny nose/eyes. But she shakes her head a lot in the coop, open mouth yawns and breathes, and it's NOT hot. :-/.
Any advice? I haven't really seen any improvement with the Denagard, but at least no one else in the flock (4 other birds) are showing these symptoms. I know the vaccination immunosuppressed her for a while, and I know that if she has contracted Marek's, that will also suppress her immune system. I've seen no sign of Marek's yet, and I hope I don't--I really love this girl. She's not laying yet, but she's squatting, and I know that Marek's often begins to show at POL.
Any advice or suggestions? The new thing is the bright yellow poop--that's what alarmed me yesterday. Help, anyone? Should I give her the Tylan and take her off the Denagard when the Tylan arrives?
