Mice are ruining my chicken raising experience!!!!!!

Glad to hear it worked! Can you exchange the mouse sized traps for rat sized ones? I'm happy to report that, as of right now, I seem to be getting the upper hand on the little vermin - haven't trapped a mouse in the coop in about a week's time but, I can assure you, the trap is ready and waiting should any of the little interlopers decide the coop is a warm, safe place to hang out. Bwhahahaha!

When we saw a mouse this winter we asked my father what they did when they grew up on the farm. He said to mix corn meal, chicken crumbles or grain with dry cement powder and place it where you KNOW your birds and other animals can't get at it. They eat it and the powder pulls in water from their system and turns into hardened cement in their digestive system. It dosn't sound nice but it works. We put the dish in our locked sheds. It was important that I didn't just put out poision as I didn't want to kill what ever preditor ate them as my chickens will eat mice. Once the reaction is finished it dosen't remain hazardous to the other animals that might eat the mouse- they just won't eat that part of the mouse or it is like swallowing a few rocks. The rodent also leave the building to look for water so they don't usually die in your shed. I haven't seen one since we put it in the shed we saw the mouse enter. This method is also mentioned on the internet if you search for it.

That cement mix is something I will put in my crawl and attic.Maybe even by the front of my house.Hope they eat it.

I have a Phoenix pullet that runs with the Silkies- she's determined to find the mouse that lives in their coop. She digs and digs, making a determined little noise. Now, to get rid of the ones in my house!!
