So I was looking at the coop and noticed little holes and saw mice. Any ideas on how to get rid of them? I don't really like cats, so that is not a option. I have ducks, guinea fowl, and chickens living in that coop. FYI: I am scared to death of mice. I hate seeing them.

Thanks in advance,
Sophie and the coop

Plant peppermint around your coop. Mice hate the smell of peppermint. The plants will spread quickly and your coop will even smell good. Or you can use peppermint oil from a health food store to soak cotton balls and place around the coop. If you use oil, replace cotton balls frequently. This also works with moles. Good luck!

Chickens are like cats, in that some make excellent mousers and hunt, and some don't.

I had mice, carpenter ants, and cricket issues in my shed before it became the hen house.

I haven't see any of these in years.

Have you given your birds a chance to eradicate your problem themselves?

Wow. I might have to try this one. I was just browsing threads since we have problems with mice and had a rat snake in our coop last night. Interesting way to get rid of the mice. Plus, I like the sound of it making the coop smell better too.
