Well I have built my new coop and installed my 12 pullets and all seems to be well. BUT I read that no wood coop is mouseproof. How do I keep mice out of the coop? What have you guys tried and has it worked?

My chickens keep the mice out of the coop.

They don't like them at all, and will chase them off. I'm sure some must sneak in at night while the birds are sleeping, but it's never been a problem.

Rats, on the other hand, are trouble!

My mouse eliminators are the outside cats. I have not seen any mice for a long time. No evidence of them either. Nice kittys.

I borrow my neighbours cat sometimes. I put her in the shed for a day while the ducks are out free ranging. That cat sure has got fat lately- and spent the whole day yesterday sitting on my car or smooching up against my front door..... I think thats her way of coming to tell me she wants to go back in my shed for a while....
