Last night I was taking my spoiled rotten chicken Goldie out to the coop ( I like to bring my chickens inside.) When I got out there I shone my flashlight on our 8ft chicken run and saw all of my 9 chickens all huddled in one spot. I curiously opened the gate door and put my little Goldie back in the run. I ran into the house shouting at my mom telling her I was afraid that the chicken coop had caught on fire again (that happened approximately a year ago I had had 10 chickens then and five of them died in the fire surprisingly five of them made it out of the fire.) so I went to bed worried sick about the chickens. just a half hour ago I put my two dogs momo and holly inside and locked the dog door so then I went outside opened the gate door to the run and let all my chickens into the yard I had come inside forgetting to collect eggs then my mom reminded me and I went outside to get them when I opened the coop door I see thousands if not millions of tiny silver bugs yet when they decided to crawl on me they were brown. I just needed some answers on what in the world these bugs are or what there doing in my ladies coop thank you! btw my chickens names are....

I assume they're flying? They sound like what my family calls "No see 'ums" and they're like tiny gnats, but they bite. It's been really wet lately so they've bred by the millions, and they seem to really like chicken poop as a breeding ground. A good cleaning and some dry bedding in the run will help some, but insect repellent on yourself will keep them off when you have to go outside.

Btw you have an awesome mix of chickens :)
