Hi all,
I was watching a program on microloans and decided to look into it (giving not getting). I went to www.kiva.org and decided to sign up. You can search for places, people or purposes you're particularly interested in and loan them $25. These are mostly women in 3rd world countries trying to support their families by running their own small businesses. I just loaned a woman in Uganda some of the money she needs to build a new brooder.
I don't make anything off of this website, in fact as far as I can tell no one makes a profit from them! They ask for a voluntary separate donation to fund the site because 100% of the money for the loans go directly to the borrower. Pretty cool!
