Where is everyone?

Thank you for starting a Middle TN thread, where do you get your chicks? I've been looking for solid breeders around middle TN, and I haven't found any yet. I was considering going to the Lewisburg livestock show once I'm ready, but I don't know where they get theirs from. Still researching.

I saw that one, but the last post on it was 2011. I'm not looking for any particular breed, but just a breed that is hardy and solid, that did not originate from a substandard hatchery.

Just to explain, the majority of my chickens I got through the 4H program my daughter was participating in. They gave the kids a breed that was made to over-produce. They are a year and a half old and I do not get a single good, edible egg from any of these hens anymore. They are riddled with reproductive issues, and many have died. The older hens I have came from the flea market, and although they are good healthy hens, I kinda got lucky on that, plus they are older and not laying very often. So I'll need new hens this spring, and I'd like to get better quality birds.

On the thread above, first post was 2011, last was Dec 7. I have Barred Hollands and Rhode Island Whites, @cree57i has quite a selection of birds and she's probably closer to you.

rjohns39 thought I was posting on the other thread. Health caused leaving chicken raising the last few years, and sight has changed so much having trouble using it. Feeling a little better need something I enjoy doing, thinking of returning to chickens. Have not decided on breed yet . Is there a Sussex thread?
