How large would a MW be if started now and I wanted to process at thanksgiving? I'm concerned about having larger or louder birds...are beltsvilles also smaller birds? We only have a few people at Thanksgiving, 7 or 8 adults and 2-3 kiddos. I'm planning to do a few birds, so even if I had to cook two, that would be fine...but I don't want a 5 pound turkey after processing...I think some of Cornish will be that big!

MW is plenty big for the table by 6 or 7 months. Figure about 12-14# dressed for a tom and 7-10# for a young hen. The fill out another couple of pounds by a little over a year but the cost in feed is inefficient.

The MW, BSW, RP, etc. are "smaller" than some other varieties but are still a big bird compared to most chickens and as noisy as any other turkey.
