I'm thinking of getting some Midget White eggs for the incubator; any difference in hatching turkey versus chicken eggs other than longer time in 'bator?

Also, our other turkeys are free range and they run with free range chickens. I thought our turkeys would start laying by now but its been miserably wet, cold, rainy and so far, we haven't seen any eggs. Last year the hens nested under the shelters we put out in the pastures but they don't seem to be doing that this year because we only retained 1 of the older hens and the rest are young''uns (10-12 months old). Any suggestions?

All the birds (ducks, turkeys, chickens) come back at night to the barn and roost or under the horse shelter where there is a straw bale palace ROFL.....but I'm worried about no egg laying yet.

Thanks

Turkey eggs use higher humidity. Around 50 for incubation and around 70 for the hatch. They may be layin eggs somewhere because they hide them pretty good. I wouldn't worry about them not laying yet.

Mine haven't started laying yet, either. I'm not really expecting them to for a couple weeks as I just started them on their breeder rations and it's been very cold, here.

If you want eggs you need to confine your turkeys to a area that you can easily find the eggs. I will bet your getting some eggs now. Mine will lay and hatch eggs in the snow. I didn't think I was getting eggs until I locked them up. I am getting over 3 doz eggs a day. Who would of thought I could miss that many. I guess the birds where eating them or they where just good at hiding them.
