Midwestern Accent

I’ve just been reading a book about this that says non-Midwestern persons think those from the Midwest talk like pirates with head colds. Is this true? As a midwestern myself, I wouldn’t know.

When I moved to Arkansas from ‘Michiana’ at the age of 15, my biology teacher teased me about my yankee accent. I told him he had a horrible southern accent while I had proper midwestern diction that newscasters aspire to.

Yeah, I'm from Nebraska and as of right now, planning to go to college in Mississippi, and I'm sure that getting used to the accent will be a struggle for me!
