We had a tropical storm 2 days ago. I put fresh water in my coop, which is well ventilated, Thursday evening in preparation for the storm. I cleaned the coop today and found large amounts of Aspen shavings and poo in their water bowl. My chickens don't like the traditional waterer for chickens, so they get a deep bowl. I saw what looked like some bubbles in the bowl. Is this a sign of Botulism in their water? Do I need to be concerned? Also, I have indoor ducks. Do I need to disinfect everything I touch to avoid contaminating their food or water after I just dumped out the chicken water and just rinsed it out with water? Is Botulism only caused by directly eating or drinking the toxin? These may be silly questions, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Always wash questionable containers with dish soap and bleach. If your not sure, wash it.
I don't have bleach. I usually just use soap, but I do plan on scrubbing the water bowl just in case.
