Mildew appreciation post

Hello. I would like to show off my chicken Mildew.

Mildew is the most sweetest chicken, to the point that she has a bit of a fan club. She is not only extremely cute, but also very sweet, perfectly round, super fluffy, and very stupid.

Her name lends itself to many fun variations and sayings such as "Mil-cute", "What is Mil-doing?", "Mil-does what Mil-wants", "She's Mil-doing her Mil-best". I also get a picture of her every day which I call "The Daily Dew".

Mildew is some kind of silkie cross. She had a sibling that looked just like her named Mold, but unfortunately Mold passed away. I had really been hoping to have a pair called "Mold and Mildew"

I think she is extremely cute, I hope you think she is cute too!

She certainly is very cute. Sorry about her sister Mold. Unfortunately I can't tell from your pictures how stupid she is. She honestly does not look any stupider than any other chicken of my acquaintance. So you'll just have to
convince me with anecdotes of her antics and/or adventures. Looking forward to hearing more from the Marvelous Miss Mildew!

And feathermore ... I just like to say ... I find the white boa around her neck quite fashionable. It makes her much more photogenic than if she were just all black. Very good fashion choice, Miss Mildew!

I should say that I call her stupid only in the most affectionate way possible! I would say that it's mostly a "there's nothing going on behind those eyes" kind of vibe I get from her
I remember as a chick we would give them some worms as an occasional special treat. She would either be completely oblivious (while all her siblings pounced on it) or look at it in confusion, tilting her little head back and forth.
She would also frequently be off just vaguely doing her own thing, staring into space, oblivious to what the rest of the chicks (and now the rest of the flock) were doing as a group. Nowadays she will sometimes get left behind by the flock just because she isn't paying attention then eventually lifts her head and runs after them (which I always think looks like a Victorian lady running while holding up her petticoats!)

Thank you!! It's funny because now I associate Mildew more with the name of my cute chicken rather than the actual definition, which results in me cooing over the funniest things. I saw a post on fb the other day talking about how to help prevent mold and mildew in your RV and all I would thing was "awww Mildew "

Thank you!! She's actually a random barnyard mix hen that I hatched myself. I had no intention of getting a silkie/silkie cross, but she's my perfect little surprise!

I joke about creating a small breeding project with her and call it "House of Mil" and name all her babies names that started with "Mil" (Milkweed, Millet, Millipede.... so many fun options haha!)

Oh my gosh that is the perfect image, now I will always see it as a white boa .You're right - it suits her very well!

We hatched two pullets once that were so dim intellectually that their names are Dipstick and Dimwit.
