i have milk crates for nest boxes and my girl have started roosting on top of them causing poop to fall into the nest boxes. They are so close to laying blocking them I don’t think is an option..do I raise them up? Lay something on top? Use something else for boxes? They have roost bars in their coop. Some use it...some still sleep on the floor—my Bantys and then my Barred rocks have started getting on top of the next boxes..I have a suspicion it’s to see out the ventilation hole..because they were roosting on the bars before...

Ideas welcome!!!

Welcome to BYC!
Pics would help.....but putting a sharply angled board anywhere you don't want the birds to roost usually takes care of that problem.
This hinky hack and slash is hinged to double as a nest cover.

Piece of cardboard remains to keep them from roosting on top of nest bank.

I had same issue. This is what I did. Covered nest boxes with a piece of plywood and used a few cinder blocks to put a roost on top.
