Milk crates for nest boxes

My chickens are hatching their eggs currently and it didn’t occur to me until now that my crates are sitting facing up. Can the baby chicks fit through the holes on the side to leave the nest? Anyone else have experience hatching in milk crates?

No need for replies, I put on a swat suit and flopped some moms out of the nest and took the babies out. Then some moms attacked the babies? Dang birds are brutal. Anyways a mom stayed out with the two chicks and the others went back to the nests for the other eggs. They should be fine and the rest should hatch together if they do.

I've had chicks go through the holes in milk crates before and get stuck, so I don't let broodys set in them.
How did the rest of your hatch go?
