milk jug waterers?

I keep reading about people cutting holes in milk jugs to water their geese with less mess. I keep trying it but they keep looking at it like I'm crazy. Can someone post a picture of theirs? Maybe I'm doing it wrong.

I know a guy who uses the gallon jugs for his breeding pens of chickens with good results. Cut out the opening opposite of handle at the top. Then use the handle to attach to side of cage so they will not tip it.
He also uses them for feed. Cheap and easy way to do and can be replaced quite easily.

I use these for my ducks.Add a little grass in the water and they'll get the idea

Yea cut the side opposite of the handle. If yo ucut it right, it also doubles as a scoop.
