I have read on these boards that chickens are lactose intolerant and to avoid milk but in "Storey's Guide" it says chickens love milk. I feed my chicks yogurt and they love it but what about milk? Thanks

I have no problem feeding my chickens milk (I've been doing it 20 years now) it is a good sores of animal protein.

I raise dairy goats, have for 30+ years. I always have more milk than I need, so the extra gets divvied up between the chickens, dogs and cats. I do a variety of things to it...make yogurt, custard (with meat broth or other things added), and soft cheese. I also soak the chickens feed daily with the milk so they get a "mash" for their meals. The eggs shells are nice and hard, the chickens are healthy, their poop normal and they LOVE their milk and feed mash. I add stuff to the mash if I have it, otherwise, it's just the pellets and milk.
