I have been milking Gouda for months now, but Brie has still been being nursed some by Goatburger up until very recently. Her left side udder milks almost completely out with a nice heavy stream, but her right side is very difficult to empty and feels like a thickened baseball sized area in it. When I milk Gouda down, it's like a little empty purse, she empties completely. Brie is not like that. There does not appear to be any mastitis - the udder is not warm, tender - the milk has no blood flecks or streaks and no flakes, tastes just fine. Any ideas on what could be causing this? It does seem to be getting slowly better as I milk her. I always make it a point to "massage" that thickened area well everytime.

Tissue build up in the udder from the kids nursing and the udder not getting the tissue massaged out.
I have one that had a great udder till the kid nursed off her. She is ruined for show now. Also wondering did she have mastitis at all last year? It could still be tissue from that.

Massage the heck out of that spot and it should soften up some. Don't be timid about it. Really get into it. It may not go away but it will reduce some.
