Your birds are so pretty! And brave! Mine won't even touch the snow! Here's a pic of my only D'uccle named Leeloo. I had another one named Peanut, but she unfortunately passed as a failure to thrive chick. I'm not an expert with the breed, but they are the most friendly little buggers, and smart too. I taught her some tricks! She just started laying eggs for me too! The eggs are huge for such a tiny bird!

I too wish there was more info on this breed. I read that they have trouble with the cold and heat, but she's doing quite well. Lowest we had was -8F and no frost bite. I was worried cause she grew a larger comb than I was expecting! Probably not ideal bird for my area, but i just couldn't resist. :) They're so adorable! I would love to find some mottled ones in the future.

Where did you get your birds from? Are the roosters friendly?

Your birds are really pretty. I would love to get a blk/wht one like yours. I brought my two hens and the rooster at the tractor store. There just five months and are not laying eggs yet. My birds don't live outside. I just put them out for a few minutes a day.My rooster is only five months and he pretty friendly right now so hopefully he will stay that way.

My Black and white one isn't a D'uccle. She's a mottled Cochin. But a mottled D'uccle would look the same in terms of color. It will be a while until you see eggs. Mine started laying around 8 months. That's great that your rooster is still friendly! Hopefully it stays that way.
