I'm new to ducks and think I have a miniature ancona duck, which I am totally ok with and its the greatest. It was hatched a few days after its siblings and has a crippled foot which i am going to tape flat but it has been getting around pretty good. So my question is curiosity of what I can expect. Will it feather out at the same time as its sibling? Will it eventually catch up? If female will it have issues laying eggs I need to watch for?

I'm very happy and its thriving being separated and I just have these 2 ducks. Otherwise we have chickens, guineas and turkeys.

:welcome

They are adorable :love If the little one is thriving then I wouldn't worry it should be as normal as the other just small.

As for the foot I'd lay flat and wrap asap the quicker you do it the quicker it will work.

Thank you! I just got him a few days ago, so I wanted to give him a few days adjusting to new digs before stressing him out more with the foot wrapping. We are going to wrap it tonight, so he is about 10 days old. I thought maybe it was his late hatching because I have had late/smaller chicks, but this just seemed extra small.

Do you suggest any additional nutrients? I have him on chick game feed (same as some guinea chicks), probiotics in the water every so often and a little extra niacin. Now that I know it may be a dwarf I may not worry as much. :)
