minor split on beak.

My hutch is attracting flies which the hens try to catch but end up pecking the wire cage. They've done this enough that one of them has a bit of beak damage. I'm keeping the hutch pretty clean, but with this heat there is no beating the flies. Any suggestions on a solution? Can I help her beak heal? Can I prevent more beak damage to the rest of my little flock? 9 birds (no roos) the cage is 2'x 3'6" is there something I'm doing wrong here?
