Mint: Yes or No?

I have 4 1-month-old chicks who have recently started spending time outside. I 've read online that chick/chickens like to eat mint so, because of what I read, I went to Home Depot and bought a peppermint plant and a spearmint plant. Is it ok to feed chicks mint?

Oh yes chicks can eat those plants. Those particular herbs will help keep respiratory issues at bay, keep flies away if the chicks are housed outside and keep them very healthy.

Yes it's safe. Plus, feed stealing mice don't like it. Great air freshener, too.

mint is one of my favorite things to grow - its delicious! in the summer, i take a few mint leaves and a slice of lime and stick them in a water bottle and pop it in the freezer. it's a great refreshing drink in the summer and stays cold with the "ice cube" core.

but be warned - if you're growing mint outside, it will spread EVERYWHERE! It grows great in a container, but will spread like wild fire outside. I just bought a few new plants this summer, some for container gardening and some to plant around the coop. It's a great plant, but don't plant it near other things...it has a tendency to overtake and kill the other plants.

Really, they love it??? My chicks haven't realized they're missing out on a tasty treat then, because the only thing still alive in their run is the wild mint that was already there.

I have two white laying Leghorns and boy do they love the mint leaves and chick weeds.
