Has anybody ever heard of wormer causing chicks to hatch with missing toe digits or nails? I know of at least 2 people (myself and another lady) that got hatching eggs from a flock that has all normal feet. The parents had been recently wormed with some kind of chemical (not DE).

Could this be the culprit? They are from 2 separate pens, different varieties even. I had though tit was genetic, but the only common denominator is feed, medication and environment.
Any input appreciated.

Most likely it's genetic. I've received chicks from hatcheries with the same issues.

What are the odds of two different unrelated varieties in different pens all producing the same defect though?

I have heard of some chicks hatching with deformities because of incubation issues, but myself and another person hatched from the same stock weeks apart and had the same result. And the other chicks that hatched with them from my own eggs are fine.
