Missing earing think hen ate it!!! worries or no???

I had a little stud earing in and my bad little hen flower jumped on my shoulder and ripped it out! boy did that hurt. I couldnt find the back or the ear ring. not conserned about the back they have eaten one of thoes before but never an ear ring! Please stay on the sensitive side with the should i worry or not part my girls are my pets!

Mine have grabbed an earring before but dropped it when they realized it was not tasty. I would not think they would swallow the earring before testing the taste of it. If it was small could they not maybe have dropped it where you cant find it.

That is possible i think she ripped the entire earing throug the hole and mabey it fell in all the hay where i cant find it even if they did eat it would it hurt them?

They will eat anything! If it happened recently it may be still in the crop and it could be retrieved though it would probably take a vet to do it. If it's passed on, you probably just have to wait and see. Hopefully it will be crushed down in the gizzard and not puncture her. Isolate her maybe and keep checking droppings?

dont think it might hurt them, but it will get stuck in the crop and assist in grinding up their food.

I'm not sure what would happen if it ended up in the crop, But based on the fact that they eat pebbles I would hope it would not hurt them.

I've found nuts, bolts, glass, nails in chicken gizzards, an ear ring wont hurt them.

New to chickens, but my one layer ate glass a few weeks ago. I freaked out, but she's totally fine. It was a pretty big peice too.
