Missing egg......Day 21

Hello!
MY LF Cochin has been sitting on one egg for 21 days. I went down today and there is absolutely no sign of the egg. I figured if it had been eaten there would at least be a trace of it somewhere.... I've searched the coop and cannot find it anywhere! Any thoughts on what happened to this egg????

It's not unheard of for a hen to kill her babies. Has she ever hatched chicks before? Did you candle the egg to know for sure it was developing? My hen ate 3/6 of her eggs and there was no trace left except a little sliver of yolk on one egg. When two of the remaining three eggs hatched, she ate the shells.

This would have been her first hatch. She'll be a year old in June. I've just found a very small piece of egg shell, so I believe that's what must have happened. I've locked the two broodies out of the coop, as they have nothing to sit on now. Hoping to break their broody streak.
