The iris is still there but the eye is popped. It was swollen shut and we had to clean a bunch of puss fron the eye socket. Would using iodine help keep it clean or?If the eye is gone and it came out clean I would just make sure to care for the wound until it heals. Chickens can live with one eye![]()
I think it's the new roosters we got, they are pretty mean so we plan on getting rid of them, I had another issue with them pecking my bantam butt rawJust keep it clean and make sure he isn't being bullied.

No, do not use Iodine in the eye.
Use Saline to flush the eye and remove the pus. Apply an eye ointment like Terramycin eye ointment in the eye. Do this 2X
Turns out treating her for Coryza helped so I think maybe one of out new roosters was a carrierShe will learn to adapt with limited sight.
I'd just keep cleaning the eye with saline, remove pus, etc., and use the Terramycin eye ointment in the eye.
