hello everyone! I just noticed one of my Blue Jersey Giants has pretty dirty area below her vent and she’s missing feathers. Please let me know what you think that could be? She is one of the lowest in the pack and often being jumped on but she manages just fine. Could this be mites? I don’t see anything else like this or any other ladies having it. Thank you!

You'll have to inspect her skin and look through the feathers closely to see if you find any lice or mites.

It looks like she may have an accumulation of dirt and poop clumped on the feathers below the vent. Give her a good clean up, inspect for parasites (lice/mites). Once she's dried, apply some NuStock cream to the exposed tissue to help sooth it and keep urates/feces from burning the skin.

If you find lice or mites, treat with a Permethrin based poultry spray or dust.

Thank you! That’s what I will do. I just want to add she looks fine otherwise has bright red comb, eats drinks etc. I do use DE once a month around the run and coop. Hoping it’s not mites. Thank you again for your help!
