Missing feathers

Neighbors are taking a short road trip and asked me to look in on their birds. Found 4 of 5 with missing feathers around and in front of tail, and entire vent area.

Is this from parasites or something else? None of mine have ever done that.

No rooster......

Have seen molting birds......this does not look like that, plus too early by about 2 to 3 months around here. Feather loss very local to tail and vent area. Skin is bare.
