This is Mildred. She is a 2 1/2 year old Black Sex Link and is my head hen! In the past few months I’ve noticed feathers missing on her underside. I didn’t really feel any concern before because she doesn’t seem bothered or sick at all. She is very active and in charge! Tonight I was looking closely and it just seemed odd. Is this normal? Molting? I checked for mites/fleas and I see NOTHING moving on her skin. I checked this evening while she roosted with flashlight. It seems to be on her crop “foob”.. which Honeslty I think is just due to stretching… she enjoys food! It always goes down in the morning. I also see a spot on each wing.. same spot on both wings? Her underside as well doesn’t have feathers? Thoughts? Anything to be concerned about? It’s been like this for months and no sign of anything wrong. Here are some pics.
