We have 8 guineas that are about 2 months old. They live in an oddball flock with our one surviving turkey & our lonely duck. We have a dozen chickens, too, but they only have eyes for their odd friends.

They were raised in our chicken house, and a few weeks ago we built a pen onto their house for outdoor time. A couple weeks ago we started letting them free range after work for a few hours, but they’ve always stuck close to their buddies & turkey friend.

Today was the first day I let them out when I left for work in the morning. (Our older hens free range like this every day).

We’re down 2 guineas. We’ve lost a turkey poult, 2 grown ducks, a hen, & a duckling to predators. It doesn’t make sense to me though that something would take 2 loud, fast guineas out of a group when there is a slow duck in the group as well.

I know guineas can wander. Are they for sure goners, or is it possible that they’ll turn up again?
