Missing toe nails

I ordered 6 bantams from a feed store, 2 each Mille fleur Duccle, Old English and Silver Laced Seabright. When I picked them up they were limp, unresponsive and barely moving. I hand fed them water mixed into their food. One had splayed legs which I taped with a small bandaid. I lost 3 about a week old. When the 3 that survived got bigger (one of each breed) I noticed that none of them had any toe nails. What would cause this?

So sorry! It sounds like you did well to have any survive, very sad. What is the feed store doing for you? Not a good story.
There are genetic lines of d'Uccles, at least that can be missing nails. It's a major fault, as I recall. No nails at all is amazing though. What has the hatchery said? Which hatchery?

I did contact the feed store. They told me I had to teach them to eat and drink. I did try but they were too weak so I spoon fed them. Made sure the temperature was right and just prayed. I never did contact the hatchery because I really didn't think I would get any support after talking to the feed store. Someone had mentioned to me that wasn't that uncommon coming from a hatchery as there incubators temps are too set too high. Something happened at the hatchery I am sure.
