Missing Toenails?

Our 3 week old BO is missing toenails on both her feet (5 nails missing total). I'm worried about her ability to scratch and forage? She is healthy and robust otherwise and is actually the head chick out of seven we are brooding.

Nothing I can do about it, I guess. But cause for worry? Like I need to worry more about them....

If there is no sign of injury/distress then I would say that she will learn to adapt just fine. I know what you are saying, I'm a worrier too

Thanks JLC. I'm concerned because they will have access to a much larger area soon and it will have small rounded pea gravel over sand. We have to do this as they will be sharing it with our ducks and I'm just afraid she will hurt her toes scratching.

Do they have steel-toed chicken boots?
