Living in Central Florida, it gets HOT during the summer. I was wondering would setting up a misting system in the run be of help in keeping the flock cool or would the extra mosture cause problems?

Thanks

I don't know if it would cause problems, just don't do what I did two days ago and end up flooding your coop b/c you forgot to turn it off at night. I have shade cloth as the ceiling and on 2 sides and ran a soaker hose along the top of those two sides so it drips down and works like a swamp cooler. It works great and by yesterday evening everything was dry again so I don't see how it would be a problem. I know many people have similar set ups.

Lugg, there are a few folks on here who have set up a misting system for their chickens for hot-weather use. Check it out with the search feature...there are some fans made with mister hoses around the edges - they work quite well, and it's a fabulous idea!

Thanks, did not know about the search function.

Everyone here is so quick to help, I am so glad I found BYC.
