One of my birds came home from the fair with mites. Now everything is infected. I have been using seven spray using dust but I can't get rid of them. I have six large turkeys so I can't really dust them very well and I have some large male ducks that I can't dust either. I have put the dust in their favorite dusting holes but again the trukeys and ducks don't use them. Any suggestions?

Next year, as you take your birds out of their exhibition cage, before you put them into their carrier, dust them for mites. That way you won't get mites at home.

I did that and left him at the neighbors for two days. I need to know how to get rid of them. I am getting less than a dozen eggs out of 30 birds. I was getting about a dozen and a half a day.

What about permethrin spray? That's what I use. It's much easier than dusting everything. Sorry this is happening. Doesn't sound fun at all. :\

we spray our birds with Adam's Flea and Tick mist/spray. You just have to be careful to not use too much, or you could kill your birds (even though it's never happened to us) So first, pull out all the feathers around the vent that have the crusty stuff on them from the mites. Then spray a bit of the mist around the bird's vent, a little bit underneath each wing, under the cushion feathers, and at the base of the neck, under the feathers. Works well for us.
