Mites? Fleas maybe?

I have noticed the past two nights after holding my birds out in their house I have itchy forearms and a bite here or there. The first night I thought maybe it was just the chicken claws bothering me until I really thought about it.
This is totally what I didn't want. Bites.. Does that mean I am not keeping my coop clean enough? I would think that fleas would still come in.
Is this a common thing?
What should my next step be? Any advice will be appreciated.

I would check the hens and see if they have any bugs on them.

You could sprinkle some DE in the coop which will help keep the bugs down. I have also read about people using Sevin Dust but not sure how much.
