Mites - on the chicks and ME??

Going into week 4 of the mites battle.

Week 1 - Learned about mites the day after being in the run chasing a chicken down. Also the first day of vacation....covered in bites.

Week 2 - Have permethrin in spray and powder form. Spray the chickens, run, and coop. Powder the ground all around to form a perimeter barrier. Get new bites in the process.

Interim between week 2 and 3 -- hide in the house and send husband out to feed and water chickens.

Week 3 - Husband only had one new bite. Chickens look fantastic. Hope floats. I get out there with permethrin spray and dust again to do the mandatory follow up. Wake up the next day with 14 new bites all around my ankles and one behind my knee. Wondering why in the world we always have something with whatever animal we get and I inevitably catch it. The dogs fleas that one time...I got them. The kitten I saved that had ringworm...got that too. The rabbit with the worst attitude in the world...he kicked rabbit pee in my eye. Chickens that catch mites...my ankles look like a war zone. I'm the person that the vet shakes his head at because no one else catches all this!!!

Week 4 - today is the start of week 4. I have Elector PSP. And I have OFF. Will spray myself with OFF and commence to fumigating the run and coop and spraying the chickens with PSP. I want chickens...I'm not giving up. *trying to walk away while furiously scratching my ankles*
