Mites problem?

I have one indoor chicken and lately I noticed after I’m done cleaning her bedding that I might have 2-3 little black/grey mites on my hands. They are the size of a needle point so barely noticeable. I just started noticing them on the tail of my chicken. She’s showing no typically signs of mites. She’s eating and drinking, her feathers are in great shape, and nothing wrong with her vent or legs. I’ve mainly noticed it on the bedding and not large amounts. Anyone know what kind of mites these might be and the best way to get rid of them before they become a problem? It’s too hard to get a picture. I’d prefer something safe since she is indoors right now. Is it possible they aren’t even chicken mites and some sort of other pest?

There is a garden/poultry dust sold at TSC and I think even Walmart. The active ingredient is Permethrin. It's pet safe but not for cats.

I would put some in an old sock and take your chicken outside and pat her well with it. Be sure to get her butt and under her wings. Then clean the bedding out carefully. Sprinkle that powder on her new bedding.

If you have a cat, separate the cat from the chicken for a couple of days.
